In 2017, the City of Crystal reviewed its parks, trails and natural areas as part of a Park System Master Plan process. This planning process provided a framework to guide the city in locating facilities, establishing priorities and funding future improvements. The goal of the master plan was to ensure the needs of residents meet current and future demands.

Planning is underway for several exciting projects in the parks. We value community input as projects are planned, and appreciate the thoughts we received as our 2023 projects were developed. These projects include an improved disc golf course and a new dog park in Bassett Creek Park, and new play areas in Broadway and Welcome Parks. We are now planning for improvements to the Crystal Cove Aquatic Center and tennis courts at Valley Place Park in 2024.

Information on current projects can be found below. Questions or comments may be sent to [email protected].

Nearby Regional Parks & Trails

three rivers park district

In addition to the many park offerings within Crystal, residents have access to regional parks that are a short drive or bike ride away. Regional parks are located in high-quality, natural resource settings that adjoin lakes, rivers or other water bodies. Regional parks and trails draw visitors from across the metro area and beyond.

Planning - CP Rail Regional Trail
This regional trail is proposed to travel from the Crystal Lake Regional Trail near Becker Park in Crystal to the Minnesota Valley State Trail in Bloomington.  Three Rivers Park district is currently seeking input on the section of regional trail that will pass through Crystal, New Hope and Golden Valley.  There are currently three trail routes under consideration, and community members are encouraged to provide input.  Learn more and provide your thoughts by clicking here.

Planning - French Regional Park
The 30-day comment period on the draft master plan ends on September 21.

Crystal residents are fortunate to have a regional park nearby.  French Regional Park in Plymouth is located on Medicine Lake and is operated by Three Rivers Park District. The park district is updating the master plan for this park, and are looking for feedback from you. Learn more here
